Story:
Harsha (Harshavardhan Rane) and Mohini (Poorna) are a newly married couple. Harsha has bought a house no 72 and they settle down in a gated community near Gandipet called ‘Classic Homes situated about 30 kms from Hyderabad. Soon strange things happens , paranomal activity begins in the house. Evil spirit try to dominate their lives and they fall in its trap . A police officer (Ravi Babu) enters to investigate. There is also a psychiatrist. The thriller then gets the most unpredictable twist before the climax.
Performances:
Poorna has given an outstanding performance as the haunted woman. Her role is central to the plot and she manages to shoulder that weight admirably. She is truly brilliant.Harsha Vardhan Rane is confident and convincing. Ravi Babu is immaculate as the police officer. Chalapathi Rao is good, as usual. The others are ok in their roles.
Technical:
Director Ravi Babu has written a thrilling story and his taut screenplay keeps the suspense until the superb twist and climax. The dialogues are to the point. The background score is very apt and enhances the narration values and the fear factor. Sound design is good. Cinematography by Sudhakara Reddy is very good and the entire film camera movements are perfect. The Visual effects and lighting are awesome . Editing is sharp and crisp. Production values are good.
Analysis:
Ravi Babu’s ‘Avunu’ is a suspense thiller ,the film in such a gripping fashion that Avunu will be a treat to all those who are addicted to the horror-thriller genre. Even for the regular commercial cinema goer, this film would appeal because this is not exactly a horror film. It is a very intelligently made film that is worth a watch.
