Khairatabad Ganesh idol is one of the largest Ganesh idol in the world installed every year at the Khairtabad ,Hyderabad at state Library during the Ganesh chaturthi festival and is immersed at Hussain sagar lake.
All the people across the state participate in the 11-day festival and thousands of people from many places of the contry to visit this idol and get the blessings of the Lord Ganesh. On the 11th day, a big procession takes place and the idol is carried to the Hussain Sagar Lake. After immersing the idol, the festival ends.
The local people formed a committee, ‘Ganesh Utsav Committee, Khairtabad’ was launched 58 years back to maintain the proceedings during the festival days.
Three months prior to the festival day, Ganesh Chathurthi, the construction of the idol began. Nearly 200 workers lead by an sculpturist works day and night for three months to construct the biggest idol, nearly 58 feet height this year. Padmasali sangam donated 72 feet Kanduva and 55 feet white thread (Janjam) and other silk clothes to the idol.
