TDP postpones Mahanadu

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has deferred its annual Mahanadu scheduled to begin on May 27 in view of the June 12 Byelections in Andhra Pradesh. The Mahanadu is normally held annually on the occasion of birth anniversary of Former Chief Minister and Party Founder N T Rama Rao. Party Politburo Member and Senior Leader K Yerran Naidu told newspersons after the politburo meeting held at NTR Trust Bhavan here, NTR’s birth annivrsary will, however,be celebrated on May 29. Mr Yerran Naidu said it was astonishing that only the officials – both excise and police- involved in liquor scam were being arrested and cases foisted on them.

The Ministers and other politicians allegedly involved in scam should also be hauled up, he said.

The TDP leader alleged the Congress Governments at the Centre and in state had miserably failed to provide a remunerative Minimum Support Price for the farmer.
