Delay in execution of the expansion project of the Tirupati Airport had led to escalation in the project cost to Rs 150 crore. This was indicated at a review meeting held here today by Mr Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Minister for Infrastructure and Investment, Ports, Airports and Natural Gas. He said the government had sanctioned Rs 100 crore for the project with Rs.30 crore already dispersed by the District collector. He said the additional amount will be sanctioned by the government with the permission of Finance Department and the Chief Minister.
Airport authorities also promised to speed up the terminal building work.
