Congress Government’s plan to dilute the Fee Reimbursement scheme introduced by the former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy for the welfare of poor and middle class people is under severe criticism these days. YSR Congress party honorary president YS Vijayamma alleged, “Supreme Court’s verdict made it clear to fix uniform fee for both convener and management quota seats. This would put additional burden on government nearly to the tune of Rs 500 crore. Considering the financial consequences, government wants to dilute the scheme putting burden on poor and middle class.
In protest against the government’s move, I would stage two days hunger fast in Eluru in West Godavari district on August 12 and 13. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is disowning all YSR schemes by citing financial implications. Government should implement the fee reimbursement scheme to all qualified students and increase the mess bills of SC/ST/BC students as per the changed rates,” she demanded.
